Would you tell people that your CZ isn’t real?

December 3rd, 2011

After almost 10 years of marriage and 10 years of wearing my engagement ring/wedding set, I’m upgrading to a new set. I’ve had my engagement ring and bands (all soldered together b/c I have an antique ring that is Edwardian style – square – so no band would fit) resized 4-5 times and my jeweler (who is excellent ) said it’s best not to keep doing it. I’m also ready for a new style. My dream ring is a solitaire with a band and we could never afford it. When I go back to work in the fall (I’m a SAHM now), my husband said I could upgrade to a 1.5 solitaire ring in September (our 10th anniversary). I found a beautiful 14k white gold CZ ring in 1.5 size solitaire to wear for now (and if I like it, may not get the real diamond b/c of costs and saving money) and was thinking…do I really need to tell everyone, if they ask, that it’s fake? I’m the type that ALWAYS tells the truth on my things…how cheap my clothes were (if I’m complimented on them), if a ring I’m wearing is CZ/fake, etc…but I started thinking…do I really need to do this? Can I just say “thank you” if complimented and go on my way or should I always say it’s a CZ? I know this sounds like a dumb question but just wanted to get others opinions. Please, no rude comments. Thanks.

They are both from Zales, white gold and a pretty good size. One was originally around $800 and the other was originally around $3,600.

Does anyone in the medical profession know why my finger would get red and raw underneath a real ring?

November 22nd, 2011

It’s my wedding band that I have been wearing for 3 years. I have no doubt that it is real 14k white gold, I bought it. For the last two months I’m not able to wear it because it makes my finger all red and raw. Any ideas as to what causes this?

what wedding band would look good with this ring?

November 12th, 2011

This is my engagment ring, except mine has little diamonds on the band of it as well. but the square part sticks out to where a ring would not sit flush against it. i was thinking getting a custom one that fills in the space with metal (white gold to match) and has a row of the same sized diamonds on the edge to give the appearance of a band but filled in space with metal. what do you think? here’s a picture:

Well, to the first person: my ring doesn’t have any room underneath the main part for a ring to go underneath like Kate’s and I would really rather there not be a gap between rings, it bothers me for some reason.

What style of band would go nice with a basic princess engagement ring?

November 11th, 2011

When I got married we were dirt poor now we have more money so I want my husband to buy me a real wedding band (I guess an anniversery band now) I haev just a solitare I think princess cut, just a round diamond, but it’s nice and clear. It’s white gold also. any ideas? A

How much would you pay for this ring?

November 4th, 2011

How much would you pay for this ring? What would be a fair asking price?
This ring would be absolutely perfect as a wedding ring engagement band, promise ring, Christmas or birthday gift, or just to say I love you!
“A stunning blue sapphire sits center stage embraced by two diamond accents. The three-stone set represents love’s significance in the past, the present and the future. Channel-set on either side of the centerpiece, diamond accents brighten the gleaming 14K white gold. Within the inner underside of the band, the words “Past * Present * Future” make a promise of outstanding love, marked by two small round diamond accents.”

This is a Zale’s ring, from their “Past, Present, Future” collection. It is 14k white gold with a genuine Sri Lanke oval shaped sapphire (5.0 x 4.0) and two genuine diamond accents.

It’s real, I’m trying to sell it on ebay, thanks.

What would you do?

My husband and I have been seperated since his mother came. She was domineering and tried to run the household. She said that since we didn’t get her approval for our marriage (she said she was going to commit suicide) she would take that with her to her grave. She said that it had nothing to do with me, but with her son defying her. She said she’d never forgive him. That she’d die with that pain and anger in her heart and he’d have to live with that.

Well, when she left she took my wedding sari. To me that signaled her dismay over our marriage – despite her two beautiful grandsons. And, almost seven years of marriage. Then, I found other things missing – my jewellery. She admitted to the sari (silk with gold threads so it’s very valuable) but not to the jewellery. The most expensive pair was my princess cut diamond earrings set in platinum. My husband had bought them for our first anniversary to match my wedding ring.
Now, he wants to work things out. My sticking point is no more money to his parents. We were sending $300 a month plus $300 a year to his sisters.

I also want counseling with our parish priest, but he still refuses. He wants me and the kids back, but doesn’t want to stick up for me. I don’t feel like he’s willing to compromise. He just says I’m over reacting.

If your mother in law did that in your home, would you feel any different?

Would it be a deal breaker if he let her come in and take your wedding gown, and your jewellery?
I’m in the US, but she lives in India. So, there’s nothing the police can do. I’m not interested in prosecuting. Although I’d like my stuff back.

Which wedding band would you choose and why?

October 7th, 2011

Hi,
Our wedding is in a month (exactly, dec 6th wooo), anyway, my fiance can’t decide which wedding band he likes better and neither can I. We’ve narrowed it down to these 2 choices.
Please briefly explain which one you like better and why. It would be greatly appreciated.
ps. no comments about how the rings are cheap LOL… :)

Ring no. 1:

Ring no. 2 :

Basically we feel ring no. 1 is classic, the look will stand the test of time, but is perhaps a tad plain. We like the little pattern on ring no.2, but are unsure of how it will look in say 30 years… plus my fiance slightly prefers white gold, so ring no. 1 has a bit more white gold on it, … but he still can’t decide lol
thanks!

Thanks for the feedback everyone, several of you made some very valid points… so I think we’re going to go with ring no. 1 but we’ll decide for sure a little later tonight lol.

AD Ford while your comment didn’t answer my question, but we’re all entitled to our opinions… Seeing as this ebay seller has been in business on ebay for over 10 years and has 99.6% positive feedback with over 11000 transactions, we’re wiling to take a chance on this ring.. and I guess worse case if it fails we’re only out 200$ and we’ll buy a new ring… I am not someone who feels the need to absolutely buy a ring from a brick and mortar store. I did check a few stores though before going online. Lol come to think of it your answer sounds like something my mom would say, which is why I turned to yahoo answers for opinions and not to my family LOL..
Plus I thank everyone for telling it like it is… For example, maybe ring no.2 does look a little feminine, and I bet none of my friends or family would have told me that, so I’m glad to have heard it though.
Thanks!

tkahrs12122 definitely did NOT answer my question. Why would anybody post anything on yahoo answers if they did not want the opinions of strangers.
Sometimes that’s exactly what you need, someone with an outside perspective to shed new light on your scenario. pff

What kind of wedding band would go well with my engagement ring?

October 3rd, 2011

I have a round diamond that sits at medium height and is flanked by two pear shaped stones. It is similar, but not identical to this one: http://www.amazon.com/Three-Stone-Brilliant-Diamond-1-00ctw/dp/B000R9E7XU/ref=sr_1_71?ie=UTF8&s=jewelry&qid=1199498092&sr=1-71

My fiance and I are having trouble finding a wedding band that looks right next to it. We have the benefit of knowing a jeweler that can make whatever we what for a decent price, so we would like something a little more dazzling than a simple white gold band. But we’ve been told that the pear-shaped stones make it very difficult to match with a wedding band right next to it.

It was also suggested that I wear my engagement band on my right hand and a completed different wedding band on the otherhand. I’m not against this idea, but I’d like to try to find something to wear on my left hand with my engagement ring.

Any suggestions?

Ladies would you ever propose marriage to your significant other?

September 5th, 2011

One of my good friends bought a platinum engagement ring and proposed to her boyfriend (my cousin). It kinda shocked the hell out of him. His response was that he needed time to think. Needless, to say there was no wedding.
