What do you think of this story? I want to publish it in my school newspaper.?

November 3rd, 2011

A woman walks cautiously, her stilettos makes muffled sounds as they meet the newly spread pavement. The street is quiet, she’s alone. Yet, she’s not afraid. She fingers her platinum blonde hair, her dark roots peek out at the top of her head. She’s trying to be someone she’s not, trying to hide behind a façade. The scarlet dress, pearl teardrop earrings, shiny leather clutch. Louise’s Trattoria, the restaurant awning reads, its red and white stripes remind her of a candy cane. She walks inside and is immediately enveloped by the warm, romantic atmosphere. Her grey eyes scan the crowd, she doesn’t recognize anyone. She knows better. The hostess beckons her, leads her to a small table. A smile brushes across the her face, she has seen him. He stands up to kiss her, places his hand on the small of her back, and holds out her chair. The woman fingers her wedding ring, but she feels no shame.

A man watches her. It’s a coincidence he even saw her here. He can hear the clock ticking, telling him he will be late for his meeting. He has just been walking to a client’s office, hair brushed back, leather briefcase in hand. He takes in his surroundings, the pier at one side, and the shops on the other. His eyes wander to the restaurant, the atmosphere beckons him in. He should take his wife here sometime, the red and white stripes on the awning remind him of her. He smiles. If she had not turned her head, tried to call the waiter, he wouldn’t have seen her. He doesn’t recognize the new her, only feels the pull in his heart that tells him it is her. She’s dyed her hair, she’s dressed differently, and her smile reaches her cool grey eyes. He can feel his heart drop down to the depths of his soul, too far to retrieve. He wants to shield his eyes, plug his ears and pretend he’s somewhere else. He wants to do anything but see his brother kiss his wife.

He contemplates throwing it, he fingers his wedding ring. It burns his skin, brands it like someone has scalded him with hot coals. He can feel himself wince, his whole body tightens up. He leans his elbows on the railing, his coal colored eyes rest on the weather floor of the pier. He can make out the dark blue waters. He could just drop it, toss it over the railing and never see it again. He would never have to see his and her names elegantly carved into a golden band, never have to remember the date inscribed on the shiny surface. He takes a deep breath, slides off his ring, and holds it over the water. He steps on the edge of the railing, hoisting himself up, one hand holding the ring, the other the railing. He loses his footing, leans in too far. His arms flail, trying to hold on. He tumbles forward and he can feel himself fall. The water slaps his face as he crashes into the dark depths. His suit jacket pushes him down, the perfectly sown silk, drenched in icy water. He doesn’t try to swim, instead stops moving. He holds his breath, dunks his head into the chilly waters and awaits death with open arms.

Only constructive criticism, no hurtful comments.
Hope you enjoy!:)

*Describe your engagement ring (or dream ring!) Be detailed as u want: size, shape, band, price, metal type..?

October 5th, 2011

I am one of those hopeless romantics who like to think about what my wedding, engagement ring, proposal, etc. will be like one day. So I’d like to see the kind of “range” of engagement rings people have!
My mother’s is a 1.5 carat diamond solitaire on a simple yellow gold band. Great clarity, nearly no flaws, don’t know too much more about it, gorgeous! No idea of the cost. Her wedding band is stunning, loads more diamonds, all surrounding the solitaire. She gets compliments on it all the time!
My dream ring would be a pear-cut diamond – 1 carat or larger, on a platinum band! =P Perfectly clear, relatively no flaws, perfect symmetry, great sparkle and brilliance!! (Hey, I can dream, can’t I?) =D

My hubby and I have been married 5 years and both want new wedding rings…?

July 28th, 2011

When we got engaged, he bought me a yellow gold ring, and then we bought matching yellow gold bands. Now 5 years later, we both decided that don’t really like the yellow gold all that much and we’d rather have white gold… does anyone know if jewelry stores will exchange old jewelry for new jewelry? or if i could have the diamonds taken out and put in to a new band? i’m planning on stopping in to the jewelry store later this week but just thought i’d ask to see if anyone knows how it works at most stores.

I’m starting to change my mind about what I want for my wedding band and fiance disagrees?

June 24th, 2011

I originally wanted a wedding band that my engagement ring would kind of shape with. But I always envisioned my wedding band being thicker more like a traditional wedding band thickness and width. My engagement ring band is very thin though and the matching wedding band (we have not purchased our wedding bands yet) is also very thin. So now, I’m looking more at white gold traditional style bands which would actually match his. When I told him about this idea last night, he disagreed and said he thinks it would look much nicer if I get the matching band to my engagement ring. Should I just stick with the original plan and get the skinny matching platinum band to go with the engagement ring or should I go with my new idea to get a matching band to my fiance’s? My new idea band would feel much nicer on my finger than the platinum band and more affordable too. Not that cost really matters in this case, but still…

We already have wedding rings, but we’re doing a “reaffirmation of our vows” & I want to give new ones….?

September 26th, 2010

We got married Dec/2007 at the courthouse cause we were 5 months prego. Well we’re now planning our “ceremony” when we go on our honeymoon cruise this Dec.
I have a platinum anniversary band w/diamonds as my ring & my husband has a plain stainless steel one (he bought both)…

I originally wanted the anniversary band as my engagement ring and just a plain band as my wedding ring.

Is it silly for me to want to buy 2 new rings that we can exchange at our reaffirmation and wear on our right hands or with our other rings…with or without engravings inside..? I wanted to surprise him…

If I do get some new bands…what metal should I get? And does anyone have any suggestions on where I could find some nice, inexpensive ones??

Thank you so much for your help!!! =)
