Tungsten or Stainless steel?

DF’s new thing is how he wants a tungsten or stainless steel wedding band instead of a platinum one. He says it’s more of a “man ring.” (? don’t ask)

Question is: For those of you who have tungsten or stainless steel rings, what do you like about them? What do you not like about them?
Oh, and women should feel free to answer on behalf of their husbands if they have any useful knowledge about this.
I’m looking at pricing info online– these rings are so unbelievably inexpensive! Wow, I’m really getting off easy… I almost feel bad. But he said he didn’t want platinum… so I’m just giving the man what he wants
He says, “forget the stainless steel.” He says he likes Tungsten or Titanium. Thanks for the steel comments, but further commentary is no longer needed on that.

Which is better for a mans wedding ring? I understand that most men don’t wear them while working but which one will look the best and stay in better shape. Platinum is out of the question. ( Bad experiences with plat.) It’s the small details that drive you drazy when deciding! Thanks!

Men’s wedding band metals; tungsten, palladium, gold, or titanium?

i started looking for a wedding band, i like the dark shiny look of the titanium rings a lot but i guess they cant be resized if your ring size changes during your life, which it almost always does. i wasnt a silver looking band and was thinking about an alternative metal rather than white gold because it kinda looks like crap and loses its silver color after a few years. someone told me palladium dents and scratches easily so i was thinking maybe tungesten, does anyone know if that can be resized? if anyone knows of a good, objective buying guide for metals it would be appreciated. most of the guides ive found either sound unobjective or dont include tungsten and titanium
no, there is a metal called palladium. im not getting platium because like the first person said its horribly expensive and its soft so it dents easily and cheaper stuff looks just as good

Does anyone have a Tungsten Carbide wedding ring? I’ve heard that they are very scratch-resistant.

My wife wants to get me a new wedding ring for our anniversary and I am considering a Tungsten Carbide ring.

My original wedding ring from 6 years ago is white gold and is extremely scratched up. I’ve had it polished a few times by a jeweler and it looks great after being polished, but within a month or so it is scratched up again.

I work a desk job, so it’s not like I am being rough on my ring.

For anyone that has a Tungsten Carbide ring, can you comment on how well your ring has held up? Is your ring scratch-free? Do you like it? Would you recommend one?

Would you buy your fiance a tungsten wedding band when you know it cannot be resized?

My fiance likes the tungsten wedding bands, and I was going to purchase one for him … but the salesperson at the jewelry store told me that not only can they not be cut off easily in an emergency (which I was aware of), they also cannot be resized after it is made. He maintains his weight, so it’s not like he should need is resized any time soon … but what about when he gets older if his fingers change size?

Also, he is in the military and going to Afghanistan right after the wedding, so I am a bit concerned about the fact that the ring cannot be cut off easily since it’s a possibility.

We also looked at the white gold rings, but he really seemed to prefer the tungsten ones.
Not quite sure who’s giving the thumbs down, but I promise it’s not me! I appreciate all your comments.

My fiance and I are getting married in April and I am looking at wedding bands for him, I was going to get him a plain white gold ring but I am reading that tungsten rings are really popular… but what are they? I looked at pictures and such and they look more masculine but what exactly are they… I want a white gold ring and not something that is going to tarnish or turn color… can you get these rings in white gold? Any info on them is great, thanks!!

okay i am going to get married within the next two weeks and i wanted to get a tungsten wedding band to match my soon to be husband’s but i am afraid it might not fit in with my white gold engagement ring. so i am asking if anyone has been in this situation before do they look good together?
