Where should I sell my ring?

November 18th, 2011

I got a bridal set about a year ago. They are over 1 carat and were originally about $4,000, but my boyfriend and I got them on sale for under $2,000. I want the engagement ring, but the wedding band does not fit my finger and I don’t really want to get it fixed. I will get a new wedding ring later. We thought about selling it, but where should I sell it at to get more money. It is white gold with twelve diamonds on it. We could use the extra money, but I am nervous about who will give me a good deal and who will not.
Also I have a lifetime protection plan, if I sell one of my rings, will my plan keep going? I got my rings at Zales, if that helps.
Why would it be a fraud if I sell one of my rings. They are mine and paid for. I just want the protection plan for my engagment ring.

What kind of metal should my husband’s wedding band be?

November 9th, 2011

I’m having a tough time deciding on a ring for my husband-to-be. What is the difference between tungsten carbide, palladium, and sterling silver? We want something VERY durable and scratch-resistant that will match my white-gold set. Also, what are the differences in prices?

should i have the ring plated or just send it back?

Should i have the ring plated or just send it back?
when i got married, we didnt have a ring. as a wedding band, i decided to purchase an 18 kt gold overlay ring. the ring has a lifetime gaurantee against excessive wear, etc..since overlay is suppossed to be very durable. well, i work as a cashier and only after 3 days, my band is already scratched..and like the gold plating is coming off!

i love the ring but i cant have it falling apart on me.would it be worth getting replated (this time with maybe platinum) or should I just send this ring back and have my husband invest in a real ring?

i dont really care that the ring isnt real gold per se. he’s the jewel, anyway. I do mind that the ring

is already falling a part.

ps. how much would it be to have a size 4 ring dipped in platinum anyway and how often would i have to get it redone in my line of work?

or am i better off just getting a sterling silver ring, as a final resort before just going for gold?
underneath the gold overlay is bright white stainless steel. overlay should have made it better than plating but from how the seller described it, it almost sounds like my ring was plated and misrepresented as gold overlay

when should a new couple in a relationship discuss finances..etc?

November 5th, 2011

I have known this man for 8 years but we just decided to give our relationship a try and live together We dated a little prior but nothing too serious. He is 12 years older than myself (forty-some). I allowed him to move in with me to see if we could take things further. Its been a few months (3). He gave me a ring (wedding ring) for Christmas but it was not what I expected. I am grateful but we discussed this firsthand and he bought it anyways without my prior knowledge. The problem I am having in my head is he got the wrong size (he knew in advance my ring size) and the wrong color ( I prefer yellow gold and he got white gold), he says its platinum. I want to go check it out but anyways. I have found him to be very messy and not as clean as he needs to be with himself. I am a very neat and clean woman. I have discussed this with him briefly but he is so sensitive about certain subjects. Upon moving in with me I thought things would be better financially with it being the two of us. I told him what the rent was and I get one utility bill. Now that he is here and get paid weekly our situation is no better and he gets an attitude when I inquire are talk about finances. I am trying to be lenient and patient with him in all areas, but I don’t know how long I can deal with this. What should I do at this point because I am in my late forties and I will not tolerate or sacrifice my well being just because. I need answers (I do pray) but I’m only human and this is disturbing me. I love him but I love me more. Any suggestions or advice will do.

Should I get a different engagement ring?

October 28th, 2011

I told my fiance not to spend more then $200 on my engagement ring and he didn’t. Now I’m wanting to get something that I REALLY like. I love this ring, but it’s yellow gold and I’m not a yellow gold person. He tried to find a white gold one at the time, but couldn’t. He told me that I could get a new one(and I agreed to pay for it), but I feel guilty. I always said I didn’t understand why girls did that and that I never would do it. Should I just keep this one and get a wedding band that I really like or should I go get a new engagement ring?
I’m not a material person. Did I say I wanted something bigger? I just wanted to know if I should wear something I Love 100% or if I should wait and get the wedding band of my dreams.

Should I say something or keep quiet? Does this make me ungrateful?

My husband recently bought me a new wedding ring. He basically upgraded my old one for a larger stone. It is a Tiffany style 18k 1 1/2 carat Princess cut solitaire w/platinum head, & it is beautiful…but the thing is…I was really wanting a Pear. I have hinted to him over the years that when he was ready to upgrade to a larger stone, I wanted a Pear shaped solitaire. I know woman have there own styles of what they prefer & I thought it was up to the woman to pick out which ring/stone she likes the best…I dont want to sound ungrateful, but is it wrong to be a little disappointed? He said when he gave it to me, “A Princess for a Princess”…i thought that was soo sweet. But I still woulda preferred a pear. Its my wedding ring, that I will wear til I die. Please help me understand my feelings about this…Im not an ungrateful person…this to me is just different, its my wedding ring….any help? He did tell me in 5 yrs or more he would upgrade to a 2 or 2 1/2 ct, should I wait til?
Before anyone says, “Why keep upgrading?”…when we got married 7 yrs ago, my husband said he wanted to buy me a 3 carat diamond…he couldnt afford it back than, so he said hes getting there & wont stop upgrading til he gets what he wanted originally for me…which I thought was sweet!!

I don’t like the engagement ring my fiance bought me.. he was being cheap with it. Should I tell him?

September 30th, 2011

It’s not a 2 carat platinum like I hoped for.. he got me a one carat white gold ring. I hope he doesn’t do this with the wedding ring. You know how embarassed I’ll be? Should I tell him or exchange it for something else on my own?

Should I go for Harry Winston or Tiffany&Co.?

September 29th, 2011

I got my fiancee an engagement ring so now I have to buy the actual wedding ring.I’m thinking of getting a 5 carat diamond with a platinum band and tiny diamonds on either side of the big one. Which brand would you suggest,Harry Winston or Tiffany&Co.?

Wedding rings should match?

September 27th, 2011

He got my engagement ring at the Shane co. He picked it out. I had no idea he was even looking. He got white gold. Now he is saying he wants yellow gold. But I think our bands should match. Both be white gold to match my engagement ring he bought me. What do I do?
I just think that they should be the same color. White gold is what he picked out for me. I think it look funny to see a husband and a wife with different color bands on.
Yes Bubbles that is what Im wanting. The same color.
