What is the meaning/cost/significance of each metal for wedding bands?
I would like to know what each one means, and which you would recommend for wedding bands. Tell me your opinion please.

Platinum vs White Gold?
May 27th, 2011My boyfriend and I have set a wedding date for next summer. There isn’t a ring yet because he wants to get me something that I love and I have been going back and forth with the setting. Well, we picked a setting (he’s going to design one based on what we both like), but now the problem we having is the metal. He wants me to have platinum because it’s a rare metal and he wants me to have something that not everyone has. He’s a scientist so rocks and minerals are his background and it’s important to him. I am concerned that the platinum is a duller metal than white gold and will dull so much that it will look more like gun metal. In the end the ring won’t look as nice. My cousin’s wife has platinum and her ring is gray and just blah. There is no shine or sparkle to the thing even though it’s a 1.5 cart diamond. If we go with platinum I just need reassurance that it won’t look like gun metal and it’ll be polished and look like white gold does. HELP!!!
I think part of my problem is the money he wants to spend on it, too. This is the same man that always told me I wasn’t going to get anything over a 1/2 carat and now the ring is 1+ carat and platinum. It makes me uncomfortable that he’s spending this kind of money on me.
I’ve always told him that this will be the most expensive piece of jewelry I will ever own, but now we are really talking expensive.

April 29th, 2011For a wedding ring?
Three ring set of non-tarnishing platinum rhodium silver bands, and finger is now turning green. Why?
April 18th, 2011Shortly before our july 7, 2007 wedding in the great lake, IL I purchased a beautful set of rings that are known for not tarnishing as fast, and easy to keep shiny and clean. Now, after wearing them for only about a week, they are turning my finger green and im not sure if im not cleaning them enough, or what is wrong. I have never had trouble with this metal type before.
the certificate that came with the rings just says “Platinum Silver Wedding Ring Set,” and then in the item description says “1 ct cz eternity rings all mounted in non tarnishing platinum rhodium silver bands that look just like 14K gold, to make this our greatest creation to date. These Rings are NOT CHEAP IMITATIONS !” Hmmm, maybe the final words are in fact the answer, that sucks!
The seller of the rings wrote this to me: as often as nesessary depending on you body chemistry usually once a day works. Less than one percent of buyers experience this condition. Use a quality liquid jewelry cleaner. We use Wal Mart brand in the burgandy bottle.” Ok now im confused, lol.
If you have a gold ring dipped in platinum will it eventually peal and look bad?
April 13th, 2011My wife had a gold wedding and engagement ring. she was working and somehow got one of the diamonds loose in the engagement ring so she took it off until we could go get it fixed, but she wrapped it up in a paper towel don’t know why but anyway i thought it was trash opps and thew it out. so now i have to go buy a new ring. the one i want to get her is platinum. the jeweler told me that instead of me having to buy a whole new set that i could just buy the one ring and have her other one dipped in platinum. i wanted to know if that would turn out well or if i should just get another gold one to match what she already has……….THANKS!!
but the jeweler could just lie to make the most money on the sale
