The inside says 14k plat Does that mean 14 k gold (which would be white gold in my case) or platinum? I’m wanting to get my wedding band in the same metal

What metal is my engagement ring?
November 20th, 2011Which metal ring is best for me?
November 15th, 2011Me and my boyfriend are planning on marriage and have been ring browsing. I have long, but very skinny fingers and I am allergic to nickel. We only want one ring for me because I personally feel both engagement and wedding rings are necessary, or that it’ll look good on me-that and we’re not rich! lol My main thing is that I want a silver-looking ring that won’t make my finger change color, and can deal well with everyday wear and tear (especially one that won’t mess up in water). I heard titanium is best, but my budget is more in the sterling sliver/white gold range–which metal is better for me?
What kind of metal should my husband’s wedding band be?
November 9th, 2011I’m having a tough time deciding on a ring for my husband-to-be. What is the difference between tungsten carbide, palladium, and sterling silver? We want something VERY durable and scratch-resistant that will match my white-gold set. Also, what are the differences in prices?
Coating a cheap metal with gold?
October 29th, 2011My fiance made me a ring for my birthday out of a quarter. He did an amazing job and put a lot of time and effort into it. I was so pleased by the surprise and I thought it was extremely sweet!! The only problem is that I am allergic to nickel so every time I wear the ring I break out. We are getting married in less than 2 months and I thought it would be so awesome if we could have the ring coated with white gold and he could give it to me as my wedding band. It would be so sentimental and sweet!!! So is this possible? Is there anywhere that would coat a nickel/copper ring with white gold? Do you have any suggestions of where to get this done???
Thanks!
Solution for Metal Allergy?
October 24th, 2011My fiance is allergic to most metals. He can wear silver without a problem; gold, copper, and pewter all give him a rash. Steel doesn’t appear to be any better; both surgical and stainless cause breakouts, as does aluminum. Thus, our problem is finding a wedding ring for him. He says he doesn’t want a fabric, plastic, or wood band. Would he be able to wear platinum?
*Describe your engagement ring (or dream ring!) Be detailed as u want: size, shape, band, price, metal type..?
October 5th, 2011I am one of those hopeless romantics who like to think about what my wedding, engagement ring, proposal, etc. will be like one day. So I’d like to see the kind of “range” of engagement rings people have!
My mother’s is a 1.5 carat diamond solitaire on a simple yellow gold band. Great clarity, nearly no flaws, don’t know too much more about it, gorgeous! No idea of the cost. Her wedding band is stunning, loads more diamonds, all surrounding the solitaire. She gets compliments on it all the time!
My dream ring would be a pear-cut diamond – 1 carat or larger, on a platinum band! =P Perfectly clear, relatively no flaws, perfect symmetry, great sparkle and brilliance!! (Hey, I can dream, can’t I?) =D
what metal is better for a wedding band?
August 1st, 2011i have just been looking around at wedding bands and spoke with a jeweler and he mentioned tanzinite versus white gold for a grooms ring. i dont know a whole lot about tanzinte and is wondering if anyone has any light to shed??
i was told by the jeweler that white gold tends to be softer and tanzinite will hold up better and be more scratch resistant
What metal should I get for my wedding band?
June 21st, 2011I’m on a tight budget and am wanting to spend around $60 for my wedding band. My engagement band is white gold with a .5 diamond and side stones.
I would like to find a wedding band with stones to match my side stones and found some on QVC in their Diamonique collection. However, the white gold ones are too expensive. They do have the same ring in sterling silver and platinum clad though. I read that the sterling silver will sometimes chip away at the white gold ring since they’re different metals, but what if I got them molded together?
I don’t know. I’m clueless. I just want a pretty wedding band for cheap. Haha, I make it sound so simple
Any ideas?
I’ve checked all those places. I’m not asking WHERE to get one.. I’m asking *besides white gold* which would be the best metal to get to go WITH a white gold ring. Platinum clad OR sterling silver?

what is the common metal that wedding rings are traditionally made of?
February 4th, 2011my bf wants a silver one, but I don’t, and I want them to match. My argument is that they are *supposed* to be gold. Help me out here, lol!
oh sheesh, now he gets to be right again! lol
yeah he likes actual silver. white gold would be fine, if it were obvious it was not just plain silver, like something with a diamond. I don’t want it to look like we just put our junk jewelry on the wrong finger
