my boyfriend and I are technically engaged but we don’t want to talk about marriage yet, since we both feel we are too young. He got me a beautiful diamond ring and i would like to get him one also. we’re considering them promise rings for now but i have no idea what kind to get him.
He said he had no problem with wearing a ring, but there are just so many possible styles. do men mind diamonds? what kind of band? i know i would like the ring to be white gold but doesn’t look too much like an actual wedding band, and i have no particular price range, but i’m still stuck on the band style and the stone (or if there should be a stone)

October 14th, 2011I was under the assumption that I would have gotten him a white gold band that looked good with my set. I have been online looking at rings before going into the store, and the majority of the rings are triton tungsten and titanium. A lot of them are nice, but since it’s not gold like my set, I kind of feel cheap, like I got this extravigant white gold set and he gets this cheap band (even though they really aren’t that cheap).
Is it normal for guys to get triton tungsten and titanium wedding bands? That’s what all the best looking seem to be made of.
Very good idea about taking him to pick out his own…I agree, wouldn’t want him to not like his ring.
It’s not as much wondering if it would be cheap of me to get him one, but more wondering when the switch from gold to titanium and tungsten was? I had never noticed it before.

My fiance and I are having trouble finding a wedding band that looks right next to it. We have the benefit of knowing a jeweler that can make whatever we what for a decent price, so we would like something a little more dazzling than a simple white gold band. But we’ve been told that the pear-shaped stones make it very difficult to match with a wedding band right next to it.
It was also suggested that I wear my engagement band on my right hand and a completed different wedding band on the otherhand. I’m not against this idea, but I’d like to try to find something to wear on my left hand with my engagement ring.
Any suggestions?

One picture is my white gold heart shaped engagement ring, and the other is a diamond enhancer added to it that I just recently bought just to add more diamonds. I just got engaged so I know a little. First of all, what kind of wedding band would go with either of the pics? A plain one? Should I wear my wedding band without the enhancer because I can’t think of a band that would go with it?

Or maybe use the enhancer as the wedding band???
I’m not sure if the enhancer could be used as the wedding band or not. It’s basically a band with an opening in the middle for the engagement ring to fit.

What is the trend for the modern guy (~23 yrs) His tastes have changed DRASTICALLY over the last few months (I’ve seeked his opinion but like i said, it keeps changing). At first he wanted diamonds in his, but now he doesn’t care so much for diamonds and rather the “engrained” or carved look. Below are two of my top two favorites for right now… COMMENTS PLEASE!

Few questions:
1) Cost? (How much should I be spending? Minimum/Average/and Max)…. Also, does it look bad if I ultimately end up spending more on his wedding bad then he does on my rings/bridal set/one of the rings?
2) styles for a modern man (age: ~23, profession: law student, ethnicity: European with a bit of South Asian)
3) Thickness
4) Material (14k white gold? platinum? etc etc.. No yellow gold, personal/his preference)
