It’s not a 2 carat platinum like I hoped for.. he got me a one carat white gold ring. I hope he doesn’t do this with the wedding ring. You know how embarassed I’ll be? Should I tell him or exchange it for something else on my own?

September 29th, 2011I know that a lot of people typically get solitaire engagement rings… But I’m not sure that I really want that. I know I can get it because it’s my ring and I can do what I want, but is that normal to not get a solitaire setting? It has side stones and two smaller stone next to the center stone.
Is that too much? I have also considered getting a solitaire and using a ring enhancer as my wedding band.
Does anyone know if they can solder platinum and white gold together?
The reason that I’m considering an enhancer is because I think it’s more traditional to get a solitaire. Plus if I use the enhancer as my wedding band, I don’t have to get a wedding band on the side. I don’t like how one wedding band on the side isn’t symmetrical, plus I have small petite fingers, and I don’t want to over do it with too thick of bands.
Is it bad luck to sell your ex’s wedding set to apply to a new engagement ring?

We’re both divorcees. I kept my wedding set from my ex-husband (which holds zero sentimental value).
My boyfriend has a valuable ring that his ex-wife gave him back.
We are planning on selling our old jewelry very soon at a local jewelry boutique.
He’s been looking at engagement rings for me lately.
He constantly asks if I prefer yellow gold or white gold.
Is it bad luck if I give him the money from my old wedding set to apply on an engagement ring?
My mom thinks I should use the diamonds to make a right hand ring or necklace. Truth is, I don’t want bad energy/juju from my old wedding set on my body anymore.
Thoughts?

September 24th, 2011My boyfriend of 26 months and I have a 9 month old and have lived together for 13 months.
We were watching an episode of four weddings on TLC and I asked when we were going to get married.
He said a few years which through question turned into May of 2012.. Well the way I figure it a wedding takes around a year to plan so he doesn’t have very long to propose. I told him I was going to look at rings and ended up finding THE ONE.

Now he is mad that I have begun to plan the wedding before were engaged. Can I do anything to prove that its time? His only complaint in our relationship is I wont have anal sex with him.

September 23rd, 2011I hate diamonds- everyone uses them, and I just don’t like them, because they’re boring. I’ve always wanted just one simple garnet set in silver or white gold rather than a fancy multiple diamond one set in yellow gold like everyone else has. Would what I want be tacky or look cheap?

Also, is it okay to use the same ring for both the engagement and the wedding? I just don’t see the point of buying an expensive ring I would wear maybe a year before I got married and put on a different expensive new ring, but I would like a ring with a stone. And how would that work for the wedding if I was to do it?

Does gotten an engagement ring?
September 22nd, 2011that wasn’t their prefered color? My fiance picked out a beautiful yellow gold ring for me. I’m not a fan of yellow gold at all. It’s not that I don’t like the ring, it’s really pretty, I just really don’t like yellow gold. He asked me the other day why I wasn’t wearing my watch and I told him that it looked funny so close to my ring because it’s silver. He asked me if I would have prefered white gold but looked kind of hurt as he asked it, so I said no, I don’t want a different ring. It’s very special to me because he picked it out just for me, but i was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. Did you say anything about it? Also wondering if you think it would look funny to have a solid gold engagment ring with a two-toned wedding band? I was trying to think of a way to incorporate the white.

I don’t have a problem being honest with him, I just don’t want to hurt his feelings. Sorry if some people think the fact that I consider his feelings more important than a ring means our marriage will be doomed but I couldn’t care any less on how happy you think our marriage will be. I’m asking for an opinion on jewelry.
ENGAGEMENT RING FIASCO?
September 4th, 2011my fiance and I found a beautiful engagement ring/wedding band set on kijiji for 200.00 (it’s all we can afford) we were supposed to go get it tomorrow, she sold it on us!! saying she needed the money today not tomorrow. i am heartbroken. now we can’t find a ring anywhere. we are in saskatchewan canada, looking for a white gold (sterling silver, platinum) cubic zirconia solitaire ring (princess cut i like best) for under 200 dollars. u think it’s be easy…not for this bride. 
i have been counting down the days til i got my ring. now i am so depressed

September 2nd, 2011Im a little confused, ok so im talking “traditionally” here, i know the “husband to be” buys the engagement ring without the “wife to be” knowing. But then when the “wife to be” receives the engagement ring does she buy her man one to? Or do men not get engagement rings? And then the wedding rings, do you go together to buy them, are they matching? Or do you go separately and buy them as a surprise for each other. And is the woman’s engagement ring supposed to match her wedding ring, and traditionally what do they both look like and are they gold or white gold?
Wedding Band Question and Engagement ring?
September 1st, 2011My boyfriend and I are talking about the idea of getting married. On our two year anniversary he gave me a promise ring that looks as though it could be used as a wedding band. My first question is if that is tacky or not o.k or bad luck or anything.
Also my grandmother has a beautiful cubic ziconia (sp?) ring which I really love. It is in yellow gold and he would have it re- set and put into white gold before proposal. Is this tacky? Or bad luck because it is a ake diamond? It does have two small real diamonds on the sides.

How should I sell my old engagement ring?
August 29th, 2011I have a matching engagement ring and wedding band set from the Shane company. Both rings are 18K white gold. The engagement ring is a round diamond solitaire with smaller diamonds set into the band. (I can’t remember what that setting is called.) The wedding band also has the small diamonds set into the band. The total weight for all the diamonds is under 1 ct. Might be close to 2/3. I can’t remember. I do have the paperwork/ appraisal that goes with them. The appraisal says they are worth about $1,600.
I have heard that at a jewelery store that buys jewelery you are lucky to get 50 cents on the dollar, and a pawn shop will give you less than that. I am afraid of using craigslist because I don’t want to get robbed. I have never sold anything on ebay before. I looked around on ebay a little and it seems like they have rings with bigger diamonds than mine for around $500 so that’s kind of discouraging. What would you do if you were me?
