wedding bands for men?

December 11th, 2011

My fiance and I are trying to find a nice wedding band for him. He doesn’t like yellow gold- we are looking at white gold or titanium rings. Does anyone have any good suggestions? Thanks!

Opinion on channel set wedding bands?

October 25th, 2011

I have large fingers, size 8.5. The E-ring is a solitaire in platinum 2.5mm, its an emerald shape and very close to a 1ct size. So I am looking at a channel set band and there are two.

The first one is asschers, there are 12 and the tctw is .61 so 5 points each, I believe that is 2mm in size. The band is 3.3mm wide, 2mm height. Will this go far enough around my finger? This band is 300 more than the following.

9 channel set baguettes .39ct, band is 2.6mm wide and ht is 1.6, both bands from facets. The baguette I believe would be 4.3 points each?

I know that asschers are more expensive than the baguettes, and with the .21 ct size difference it seems like the asscher is the better deal for 300 more.

Is this enough carat wt? I don’t want it to overpower the E-ring, but I don’t want it puny either.

I have asked on pricescope but got no response.

Opinions please, which is better? And is it enough carat wt?
They do match the color and clarity E-F/VVS1-2-VS1-2. That is the problem stores do not carry asschers, or baguettes, only princess’s and rounds in a channel setting. I have not found a princess channel set that has that number of stones or that carat wt.

Matching Wedding Bands. Help me decide please?

October 1st, 2011

This is how my engagement ring looks like: http://www.tiffany.com/Engagement/Item.aspx?sku=21675121

Center round and sides pear shaped. He wants a brushed band.. like this style: http://media.redgaloshes.com/sq/273/008759.jpg. So I need to either get the exact same for me or one with diamonds on it. But just which style?

Can you please suggest a few wedding bands that would go with my engagement ring and still match his band? If they vary by some diamonds, that’s fine but I just want them to look like matching bands. My band will be 2 or 2.5 mm at most and doesn’t need to be from Tiffany’s.

Also, what do you think of these?

I understand they don’t need to match… I’d like them to match. And since he wants brushed then I can get the same design with diamonds on it to match the engagement ring a bit better… but which style?

Wedding bands?

September 7th, 2011

Does the bride buy the groom’s and vice versa? Or do they buy them together? Cause it looks like his ring is going to be 3 times more expensive than mine (course he also bought me an engagement ring) and I don’t know if I can afford it. He wants platinum (which is what my ring is).
Sunny, what kind of a stupid thing to say is that??? I never said we were having a big wedding.

Do you and your partner’s wedding bands match?

August 23rd, 2011

Just curious. My fiance and I went looking at wedding bands for him this afternoon and realized that the ones he likes don’t go with the one he already bought for me. Mine goes with my engagement ring and is white gold with small diamonds all the way around the whole thing. But the ones he has shown interest in so far are tungsten or the darker metals.

My fiance and I cannot see eye to eye on our “unique” wedding bands. Help?

July 27th, 2011

Shortly after my fiance and I got engaged, we decided to do something different for our wedding bands: puzzle rings. We had not seen them in our circles of friends and thought it would be a great idea and of course my fiance told all of his friends what we had planned because we were so proud of this “original” idea. My fiance told me that his best friend (since kindergarten, they’re like brothers) is going to ask his girlfriend to marry him and that her ring should be in by Friday. Being a woman and recently engaged myself, I asked what the ring looked like. He told me it was a puzzle ring. A 4 band, white gold puzzle ring. This was the EXACT ring WE were looking at for our wedding bands. He and I both argued (well, more of a debate) over the idea of me believing it is the same and him believing it is not the same. I feel like it is an infringment on something special for us that we mutually decided on and he sees it as the exact opposite. In the end, we agreed to disagree and would discuss it at a later date. Advice would be extremely helpful and, please, constructive criticism only. Thanks!

Two wedding bands?

July 24th, 2011

My fiance wants a tungsten plain wedding band to wear to work (he’s a gas piper / hvac installer and runs piping through his hands all day long, so white gold would be out of the question. It would look like crap every couple days)
Anyways, he also likes this other fancypancy white gold ring as well.

We both agree that he should get both.
He can wear his tuff one at work and then he can wear the nice one for when we go out. How does this sound to you guys??
Lydia, he is a manly man. A manly man that has good taste, that’s all.

Why are wedding rings always referred to as bands?

April 25th, 2011

Hardly anyone calls them wedding rings. And you never hear about engagement bands as those are always called rings. Why not give them a consistent name?

Three ring set of non-tarnishing platinum rhodium silver bands, and finger is now turning green. Why?

April 18th, 2011

Shortly before our july 7, 2007 wedding in the great lake, IL I purchased a beautful set of rings that are known for not tarnishing as fast, and easy to keep shiny and clean. Now, after wearing them for only about a week, they are turning my finger green and im not sure if im not cleaning them enough, or what is wrong. I have never had trouble with this metal type before.
the certificate that came with the rings just says “Platinum Silver Wedding Ring Set,” and then in the item description says “1 ct cz eternity rings all mounted in non tarnishing platinum rhodium silver bands that look just like 14K gold, to make this our greatest creation to date. These Rings are NOT CHEAP IMITATIONS !” Hmmm, maybe the final words are in fact the answer, that sucks!
The seller of the rings wrote this to me: as often as nesessary depending on you body chemistry usually once a day works. Less than one percent of buyers experience this condition. Use a quality liquid jewelry cleaner. We use Wal Mart brand in the burgandy bottle.” Ok now im confused, lol.
