Allergic to my wedding band?

November 10th, 2011

I’ve been wearing my wedding ring for about a year and a half–about ten months ago I got pregnant and had our second son. Halfway through the pregnancy, I became allergic to my wedding ring–little red bumps would appear and they are super itchy!

I thought it had something to do with my hormones, so I stopped wearing it. Well, it’s been a month since I had my son and I wore my ring yesterday–lo and behold, I broke out again!!

I LOVE my ring–it’s very expensive as well. I can’t just not wear it. What can I do?

It’s 14k white gold btw.

i have been wearing my wedding band for 2 years now, and never had a problem, now i get these itchy bumps around my finger and it swells up. could i possibly be developing an allergic reaction now? also, i wear my engagement ring on my other hand and that finger is just fine, the engagement band and the wedding band are both 14 karat white gold. why would that band be ok and not the other?

Allergic to metals in my wedding rings..what do I wear?

This is a follow up to a question I asked the other day….this is what I asked…I have had the same wedding rings for 9 years. Suddenly, about 5 weeks ago I noticed an icky rash under my rings and it itched like crazy. I took my rings off, cleaned them and put cream on my finger. Left them off till it healed about 5 days then after wearing them just one day about 10 hours….broken out again. treated the rash and left the rings off again about 5 days didn’t wear them again until it was healed and after a couple of hours my finger was broken out again. Is it possible to suddenly be allergic to the white gold in the rings? Does anyone have any other suggestions? I wear another ring on my ring finger of my right hand and never have any trouble. Suggestions?

MY QUESTION NOW IS WHAT DO I WEAR FOR A WEDDING RING/BAND IS THERE SOMETHING PARTICULAR OR DO I JUST NOT GET TO WEAR IT ANY LONGER???

Can one be allergic to gold?

June 18th, 2011

I wore my white gold Tiffany engagement ring for a year with no problems. Several weeks ago I got married and changed it to my wedding band, which is also white gold. Soon I noticed redness, swelling and peeling skin where the ring came into contact with my skin. I took the ring off, let the skin heal and changed back to my Tiffany ring. Then my finger swole and skin started peeling again!
Why is that? Did I develop allergy to gold? I thought that was impossible, since gold is never suppossed to cause allergies? Or is it?

I think I’m allergic to my wedding ring?

February 12th, 2011

I have worn it for about a year and a half, but recently I had to take it off because of an annoying rash/dry skin that formed on the top of my ring finger (only where the ring sits).

I do not want to stop wearing my ring…Anyone know of any home remedies for this? I’ve heard of putting clear nail polish on it, but not sure if that has worked for anyone else?

My ring is white gold, and I haven’t had a reaction to it until now. I rarely wear any other jewelry.
With the nail polish…how often would you say you have to apply it to the ring? Weekly? Monthly?

allergic to platinum, ever heard of it?

Can someone be allergic to platinum?

could I be allergic to my wedding ring?

December 17th, 2010

Every so often I get a rash under my wedding rings and I have to take the rings off and let it heal for a few days before putting them back on. It’s not soap or water getting under there because that’s what I thought at first so whenever I wash my hands I take my rings off and dry them really well. My other rings don’t do this. It’s 14K white gold, and hubby said white gold isn’t as pure as yellow, and it may have some nickel in it. Is this true? Should I switch to yellow gold?

If I am allergic to gold, can I wear white gold instead? I do not understand the difference between the two.?

I am purchasing a wedding ring and obviously can’t wear gold (even 24k). I need to know if I can go to a white gold or if I need to look at platinum.

What can I do about having an allergic reaction to wearing my wedding rings?

November 12th, 2010

I’ve had my ring for 9 years. I recently have a new band-2 years old. I had my solitare dipped in rotium(spelling) Could this be it? I’ve tried all kinds of creams for the red ring around my finger. It did the same thing on my other hand. Is there any type of ring I can wear?
