I need your opinion about what to do with my great-grandma’s wedding ring??

April 8th, 2011

My grandma gave me her mother’s wedding ring as a present. I plan to wear it when I get married. It’s a plain gold band with an accent line in the middle of the band and little lines going up the sides. It’s very pretty, but I would like to add some silver or platinum accents to it. Do you think it’s a good idea, or should I leave the ring as is? from a tradition standpoint, are you supposed to leave jewelry as is once you inherit it or would it be OK to modify it?
Thanks, everyone, I’ll leave it as is. I wasn’t sure if changing it would be acceptable… i’ve never been given heirloom jewelry before.

Ok, question about wedding rings and engagement rings, it’s all a first time thing for me and will be the last?

How do you feel about mixing yellow and white gold jewelry?

March 21st, 2011

I have a yellow gold wedding band that belonged to my grandmother, all my jewelry is yellow gold, and the way I see it, one day I will inherit my mom’s jewelry which is all yellow gold as well. But, for some reason I really like engagement rings set in white gold. I know I can get the band I have dipped in white gold, but do you think it looks weird when you have two colors going on?
Sorry I guess I should have clarified that I wondered if it’s weird for me to have a white gold wedding set, and then all my other jewelry to be yellow gold.
I didn’t mean to mix the metals. I meant wearing one metal on one hand and the other on the other hand.

question about engagement ring?

March 7th, 2011

this applies to folks in the UK. Since getting married my engagement ring is not too tight. I think its where it has moved forward to accomodate the wedding ring, its now round the bigger part of my finger and its just too tight. How much does it cost at UK jewellers for resizing? Which is the cheapest place to go? Cant go back to original place I got engagement ring expecting them to do it free as it was four years ago.

If resizing is too expensive or not possible (its white gold ring) how can I get it to fit my finger better (not lose weight as weigh the same since first having it). Was hoping my finger would just fit into it and stretch anyways to encourage this like vaseline or something? Thanks

What do you thinks it says about people that are married and don’t wear their wedding rings?

March 4th, 2011

My husband and I rarely wear our wedding rings – he does sometimes and I lost mine a while ago so I never wear it.

When you see people that say they are married, but aren’t wearing their rings, do you think something about them?

We’ve been married for 8 yrs.

Am I being unreasonable about the ring?

February 27th, 2011

My boyfriend and I plan to get married someday, though we aren’t officially engaged. We’ve talked about every aspect of the wedding we want to have, but when we started talking about rings, we discovered our ideas of the perfect wedding ring differ. I told him that I would prefer a very simple, white gold ring, and I don’t even want a diamond on it. I personally think diamonds are pointless, but he insists that I HAVE to have a diamond ring to signify our marriage. I told him that any simple ring would do that, but he won’t budge. I conceded and said that if he has to buy me a diamond ring, to make it a small diamond. He showed me pictures of some rings he’s considered, and they’re way too ostentatious. I don’t want to seem ungrateful and I truly appreciate it, but I don’t want him spending unnecessary money on me. Am I being unreasonable, or is my concern valid?

I have a question about the difference between engagement rings and wedding bands?

February 10th, 2011

If the engagement ring is supposed to be the beautiful one, what happens to it after you receive your wedding band? You just put it away because you have to wear the band? *Confusion* I would think a person would want to wear the most beautiful ring for the rest of their life… Not just a “band.”

A couple of questions about wedding rings….?

February 10th, 2011

Okay, my husbands finger started pussing under his wedding ring. (its white gold) we’ve been married for almost a year now (June 22 will be a year) and this just happened 2 days ago. How would we know if it was an allergic reaction or if he got something else under it and didn’t know? Is there a difference? Can it take that long for an allergic reaction to react?

Oh, and when do youg et anniversary rings? Is it any year or only on certain years? And where do you wear those?

How do you feel about married men/women who don’t wear wedding bands/rings?

February 7th, 2011

I know that some people don’t have the funds for wedding rings and such and this is not about that.
Do you think it should be an unwritten code of marriage that a man/woman outwardly display that they are taken?
I need an answer to break a tie with a friend who seems to think it doesn’t matter.
