Would you tell people that your CZ isn’t real?

After almost 10 years of marriage and 10 years of wearing my engagement ring/wedding set, I’m upgrading to a new set. I’ve had my engagement ring and bands (all soldered together b/c I have an antique ring that is Edwardian style – square – so no band would fit) resized 4-5 times and my jeweler (who is excellent ) said it’s best not to keep doing it. I’m also ready for a new style. My dream ring is a solitaire with a band and we could never afford it. When I go back to work in the fall (I’m a SAHM now), my husband said I could upgrade to a 1.5 solitaire ring in September (our 10th anniversary). I found a beautiful 14k white gold CZ ring in 1.5 size solitaire to wear for now (and if I like it, may not get the real diamond b/c of costs and saving money) and was thinking…do I really need to tell everyone, if they ask, that it’s fake? I’m the type that ALWAYS tells the truth on my things…how cheap my clothes were (if I’m complimented on them), if a ring I’m wearing is CZ/fake, etc…but I started thinking…do I really need to do this? Can I just say “thank you” if complimented and go on my way or should I always say it’s a CZ? I know this sounds like a dumb question but just wanted to get others opinions. Please, no rude comments. Thanks.

Is 14kt white gold good?

My fiance and I got engaged a couple months ago and when we went ring shopping we fell in love with a wedding set and its 14kt. My diamond is 3/4 carrot. I love my ring, even if it was from a 25 cent machine, but am just curious if the gild will last, and what the difference in kt’s are??

Sorry, I’m sorta a nerd with jewelry!
Snickerdoodle: if you are talking about the question I answered of yours, saying not to worry about the bills, and I encourage you to put your money together, how am I a “C-U-N-T” lol please grow up my dear!
That is some pretty harsh language sweetie. The point is, you asked for advice and that is what you got. If you just wanted people to agree with you and feel sorry for you, you should have said so. I do not come on here to start drama, but to help people with their wedding/engagement plans. Please grow up, and next time put your question on single/dating, since you clearly aren’t engaged.

Is it ok to wear gold and silver rings together?

December 1st, 2011 1 comment »

I prefer silver or white gold jewelry. However, I have a yellow gold and ruby ring that was my grandmother’s that I wear in remembrance of her. It’s just a little piece of her that I like to keep close. I feel like if I wear any other rings on that hand, they should be gold but I don’t really like gold. What are my options? My wedding set is silver and I wear on my left hand (obviously lol) and I wear my grandmother’s ring on my middle finger on my right hand. Everything else (necklaces, bracelets, ect) is silver or white gold… is it ok? Or does it look tacky?

Can someone advise please?

My wife is wearing an engagement ring in white gold, and her wedding band in yellow. She said it doesn’t match. True. However, I believe the wedding band should be yellow (classic) and the engagement should be white (modern).

I intend to tell her without the past, there would be no present. What do you suggest?

Old stones in new setting?

Okay I want to start off my saying i know NOTHING about diamonds or wedding bands. My boyfriend and I are getting engaged and his mother gave him a few family heirloom diamond rings. We were going to take the large diamond from one of those rings and have it set into a new band for myself. Here is the part where I might sound stupid since I know nothing about rings.

I really liked this style of ring.

Could we get our diamond set into a band like this with little diamonds on each side? If so how much would that cost… and I also heard something about the quality of diamonds would have to match up. By the way I don’t need the engagement ring. Just wanna know about how much a wedding band like that would be plus labor to set the stone.

Neither of us know what we are doing… any help?

getting married.. need help bout ring.?

my fiancee bought me a white gold diamond engagement ring, now we’re getting married next month…. we found a nice bridal set in yellow gold, but im not sure it’s entirely proper at a wedding for him to put a whole bridal set on my finger… would it be alright if he did that or should i just get a yellow gold band.?
i forgot to add before the first answer. the ring we want to buy is already together…
i dont want it to be weird i’ve never heard of anyone putting a full set on at a wedding.

Is a moissanite a nice stone? Can it pass for a diamond?

November 26th, 2011 7 comments »

We are shopping around for my engagement ring and the only thing in our price range is a 1/5 carat solitaire diamond.
I am thinking that i should get a different stone, in a real gold setting and just upgrade later.
Has anyone had any experience with moissanite? I want it to look and sparkle like a diamond so it can match my diamond wedding band (passed down from family)
What about white sapphire? I dont like the idea of cubic because i heard they fog and have no brillance.

Also, my wedding band is in platinum. I would like to get my engagement ring in white gold, will there be a difference in color between 14k gold and platinum? what about 18k gold?
Perse, when you say “the extra fire and brilliance will be the first thing to give moissanite away” do you mean that moissanite has more fire and brillance than a real diamond?

Where’s the best place to sell jewelery? I have two wedding rings I would like to sell. Thanks!?

They are both from Zales, white gold and a pretty good size. One was originally around $800 and the other was originally around $3,600.
