Selecting The Most Perfect Bridal Ring For The Big Event

September 5th, 2010

The wedding ring is used as a symbol for eternal union between husband and wife and while it is actually a modern thing for men, it was given to women for centuries now. The origin of wearing wedding rings for men may have started during the Second World War where soldiers would wear rings to remind them of their beloved. Today the exchanging of ring became and still is a great wedding symbol.

Today the bride-and-groom-to-be can decide freely on the topic of choosing the perfect wedding ring, unlike in the past when most couples got stuck to the traditional gold metal ring. Gold rings were believed to carry with them good fortune that’s why it has a high demand among couples who belong to the conservative groups.

When buying a ring, the first thing to put to mind is the ring size. You have to take note that in different times during the day our ring size may vary. The finger is usually a bit bigger in the morning or when it is cold. The best way to measure your ring size is under normal temperature.

If you decide to have an engagement ring like most women today, make sure it will good when you wear it with your wedding ring. Both rings should have the same band shape so you can be sure they fit well when worn on your ring finger.

Ask your local jewelry owner what wedding ring fits with your engagement. Don’t hesitate to ask them to determine for you your engagement ring’s band shape so that you know also what band shape your wedding ring should have.

The width of both the wedding ring and the engagement ring should be considered aside from their shapes. The wedding ring should have a larger width than that of the engagement ring. If you want a wider ring, take note of the length of your fingers. If you have short fingers, drop the idea of wearing a ring with a larger width. This will make your finger look shorter.

The traditional rings used for weddings are usually made of yellow gold. This is for the conservative bride. Today, you can choose from a variety of metals such as tungsten, steel, platinum or silver. Or even if you stick with gold you can still go for white gold instead of yellow. You can even add diamonds on it if you want. It’s all up to the couple.

Taking The Opinion Of Both Parties In Choosing A Wedding Ring

September 4th, 2010

One of the oldest traditions relating to the wedding is the exchange of the wedding rings. Not only is this an age old tradition but also this is a custom followed almost throughout the world. Though for different cultures there are some differences in the custom of the exchange of the ring during the wedding still the basic concept is always the same. It is believed that with the exchange of the wedding rings the souls of the couple becomes one.

There are also some belief that the wedding ring should be worn on the fourth finger of the left had as the belief is that there is a vein that goes straight to the heart. But the fact is that there is no such vein on that particular finger. However, perhaps because of this belief the finger is called the ring finger. Not only the finger of the left hand but also the right hand finger is called so. But in the present day context though most of the people use to wear the ring on the left hand ring finger still it is often seen that many couples are fond of wearing the wedding ring on the right hand.

Therefore choosing the wedding ring is one of the most important tasks in the list of wedding arrangements. Besides choosing the style of the wedding ring there are other things also that are to be kept in mind while choosing the wedding ring. It is to be kept in mind that the ring you choose would remain for the lifetime on your beloved’s finger, therefore the choice should be perfect. It is always better if both of you go together to purchase your wedding rings. In this way you can have the wedding rings keeping both of your choices in mind. However, your instincts are your best guide in choosing your wedding ring. Still there are several websites available on the internet which can guide you in your choice of your ring.

The choice of material for the wedding ring is quite essential too. The gold being the most common material for the wedding ring is the most favored choice throughout the world. From the very early ages the gold wedding rings are quite in popularity. Even today the gold wedding rings are the most popular ones. Other than the gold wedding rings you can also choose platinum or white gold wedding rings following the latest fashion trend. But whatever may be the material for the ring if there is a diamond fitted in the ring the whole glamour of the ring increases a lot.

The diamond in itself creates a marvelous brilliance on the ring. A diamond ring with platinum or white gold as its base metal is the hottest choice of the latest fashion trend. You can also have a gold ring with a diamond befitting really gives a traditional look to the ring. But while choosing the diamond for the ring it is very much essential that you pay proper attention on the cut, caret, color and clarity of the diamond. The better you can have the more are the chances for your ring get an acute brilliance.

What should I do about my wedding rings?

September 3rd, 2010

I am going to get married next September and are planning to have a somewhat traditional Mexican wedding with some minor differences. My fiancee and I plan to buy our wedding rings and have the “padrinos de anillos” present the rings at the alter. We were planning on asking his brother and sister-in-law. My godmother called my mom saying they way want to give me the wedding rings. I want to say no but my parents insist that it wouldn’t be right to say no because their feelings would be hurt. There’s another catch to the story, back in the 80’s my godfather “mishandled” some of my dad’s money. We think he stole it but since no one wants to bring it up its always been an issue. I don’t know if they really want to give me the rings because I am their goddaughter or because they want to “pay back” some of that money in a sense. I really don’t know what to do. I just want to be able to pick my own rings. I wouldn’t want to look at them knowing there’s that story behind it…
Another thing is that my godparents live in Mexico and I live in California….they would be the ones that are going to decide what they look like.
